Types of liposuction available
This post is a little old and since the time of writing, we now also offer HD Liposuction and Vaser liposuction procedures too. Depending on your body and your goals, we are sure we have a great option for you.
We offer different types of liposuction surgery depending on your individual needs, such as conventional, Power-Assisted (PAL), Ultrasound-Assisted (UAL) and Laser-Assisted (LAL) (SmartLipo or SlimLipo).
Each procedure has pros and cons and could be most suitable for your individual situation.
Conventional Methods:
The use of tumescent anaesthesia means modern liposuction is free from many of the post-surgery complications that plagued traditional liposuction procedures.
The surgeon will begin by injecting a sterile solution designed to anaesthetise, aid fat removal, and constrict the blood vessels of the area to be treated. This section of the skin will swell and stiffen prior to surgery. From there, the surgeon will perform minor incisions to insert the cannula under the skin. Attached to a vacuum, this cannula will suction the fatty tissues and fluids from your body.
PAL:
Power-assisted liposuction (PAL) is an even more advanced version of the procedure and offers greater surgical control. Also using tumescent anaesthesia, in this procedure the cannula is attached to a motorised handpiece, which gently sends micro-vibrations down into the subcutaneous fat beneath the skin. These vibrations will gently loosen the fat, resulting in easier suction and less tissue trauma than traditional liposuction. PAL is ideal for a wide range of areas.
UAL:
Unlike traditional liposuction where a sterile solution is injected, ultrasonic-assisted liposuction (UAL) uses a handpiece emitting ultrasonic waves to turn fat into liquid before it is removed through the cannula. Generally, UAL is used for particularly stubborn fatty deposits, such as on the stomach, hips, thighs and back.
LAL (Slim Lipo):
Laser-assisted liposuction (LAL) uses state-of-the-art laser technology to remove unwanted fat. Slim Liposuction is one such procedure, designed to bridge the gap between traditional liposuction and non-surgical alternatives.
Instead of the cannula being pushed deep into the skin, a probe is gently inserted into the fat layer, and dual laser wavelengths target the skin and fat cells respectively. This liquefies fat and tightens skin at the same time, and is the reason why Slim Lipo is widely regarded as one of the most effective procedures available.
Where on the body can I get liposuction?
We provide liposuction to almost all areas of the body where stubborn fat refuses to leave, such as arms, breast reduction, double chin, face, liposuction specifically for men, and stomach liposuction.
What are the costs?
The price of liposuction will vary depending on the area to be treated and the time spent performing the procedure.
There’s a reason Chelsea Cosmetics Melbourne has so many outstanding customer reviews for liposuction procedures.
