Have you found yourself avoiding certain clothing styles due to unwanted weight in your thighs, buttocks or midsection? Do you struggle with excess fat?

If you're finding diet and exercise aren't reducing the inches from the areas you're concerned about, and you would prefer not to have major surgery, laser liposuction is a great option to consider.

What Is Laser Liposuction?

Laser fat removal procedures, more properly referred to as laser lipolysis, target fatty deposits in the patient's body through laser technology. The laser has two selective wavelengths: one targets the fat in the fat cells, melting it to allow for removal by your surgeon or reabsorption into the body. The other laser wavelength heats the tissues under the skin, stimulating collagen production to help tighten saggy skin.

Laser lipo procedures offer many benefits, which explains its increasing popularity as a body contouring method. These benefits of treatment include:

  • Less Downtime. Only minor incisions are used, leading to faster healing and recovery.
  • It facilitates collagen production. The Laser energy stimulates collagen and elastin production, helping create that young-looking 'tautness' to the skin.
  • You'll have less 'sagging'. Laser lipo naturally tightens skin, minimising the common post-lipo patient complaint about skin hanging loose after fat reduction.
  • Reduced bruising. Focuses only on fat cells, which reduces damage to surrounding tissue and tends to cause less bruising.
  • Improved Control. Laser Targets fat deposits with extreme precision giving you a more defined and contoured appearance in each treated area.
  • Small or Big Procedures. It removes small amounts of unwanted fat for detailed reshaping or up to 5 litres for broader areas of body contouring.

Is Laser Lipolysis A Good Choice?

Getting liposuction can be intimidating, and it's completely understandable to find yourself with reservations about whether to go ahead with the procedure. We guarantee that anyone worried about excess fat can benefit from laser liposuction. Whether you intend to address small fat deposits in your neck, back, thighs, midsection or trunk, laser body sculpting offers excellent results and compelling benefits.

But is it right for you? Prime candidates for laser lipo include those patients who are:

  • Seeking to address issues with excess weight;
  • Dealing with mild to moderate amounts of skin laxity due to stress, aging, diet, or natural environmental factors;
  • Looking to minimise areas that don't respond to diet and exercise;
  • Patients who have recently shed a lot of weight from pregnancy or weight loss but still have stubborn areas.

At Chelsea Cosmetics, we perform laser liposuction using the advanced and very popular technology called Slim Liposuction or SlimLipo™. A premier form of fat laser removal, Slim Liposuction offers an excellent option for changing your body composition when diet and exercise are letting you down. We champion the procedure because it provides precise, tailorable contouring, offering the most remarkable advance in body contouring options since the invention of conventional liposuction. With reduced downtime and discomfort compared to traditional methods, Slim Lipo has numerous benefits that make it a fantastic choice for enhancing body contours. Additionally, our very own Dr Mark Attalla is one of the first doctors in Australia to perform the procedure and has the experience and skills to maximise the effectiveness of the technology to help you obtain the best results.

How Does The Procedure Work?

First, local anesthesia is applied to the treatment area to ensure comfort. Tiny incisions are then made on the patient's skin, where a thin tube, or cannula, is inserted. Attached to the cannula are a fibre-optic probe and a state-of-the-art laser that delivers low-level laser energy directly onto the fat cells.

The laser energy heats and ruptures the fat cells, turning them into a liquid form which is easier to remove. The liquefied fat is gently suctioned out of the body using the same cannula. At the same time, it stimulates collagen production, the body's natural protein that helps skin maintain its elasticity. This leads to tighter skin in the treated area after the procedure.

Dealing With Excess Skin

A tailored approach is crucial when deciding how to best achieve your desired aesthetic. This is because sometimes what appears to be fat may be excess skin or another cosmetic problem.

Excess skin removal is frequently impossible with traditional liposuction, limiting our ability to conduct body shaping to your satisfaction. Previously, traditional liposuction limitations meant the only solution for loose or sagging skin was more invasive body contouring procedures, such as lifts or tucks.

With Laser Lipo, we can treat mild to moderate amounts of excess skin without more invasive procedures. By stimulating the production of the proteins responsible for the skin's elasticity —collagen and elastin— SlimLipo's state-of-the-art laser technology effectively firms skin. This means the contours of treated areas are sharper and more defined.

Recovery

One of the greatest benefits of Laser Lipo is its short recovery period. Whereas traditional liposuction recovery can take several weeks, recovery from Laser Lipo is often as short as 24 hours. This means minimal disruption to your busy life without sacrificing desired results.

Using incredibly small incisions and advanced laser technology means that the procedure minimises damage to other tissues surrounding the treatment area. Simultaneously, the highly advanced laser reduces risks of bleeding and infection, helping to minimise any postoperative complications significantly. Regardless of how individual recoveries differ, you can rest easy knowing Laser Lipo will not require nearly the same recovery time as traditional liposuction.

The very short initial 24-hour recovery phase doesn't always mean an end to the bruising and swelling resulting from treatment. The swelling and bruising you experience will depend on various factors. The treatment area, amount of fat removed, genetic tendencies, and skin and natural healing abilities will all influence your recovery time. Some people experience swelling for only one to two weeks, while others may need to wait up to three months for the swelling to subside. Your final results will be noticeable only when the swelling has completely disappeared.
