How Is High Definition Liposuction Different From Traditional Liposuction?

Body Care, Fat Reduction Procedure, Popular, Procedures, Surgical

While all liposuction techniques can vary from surgeon to surgeon, the underlying principle of the procedure is universal. Basically, targeted pockets of body fat are broken down prior to being extracted from the body. This is done through a cannula with high-pressure vacuum suctioning.

Traditional liposuction would break down fat with the use of tumescent fluid. HD Lipo is an alternative to this form of liposuction. HD liposuction uses ultrasound energy to break the bonds between fat cells prior to them being removed.

It is this addition of ultrasound energy that makes High Definition liposuction more precise and therefore less invasive than traditional liposuction.

HD Liposuction is More Precise

When using Vaser HD lipo, an experienced cosmetic Doctor can access the superficial layer of fat just below the skin. This can create a more enhanced, smooth, or chiselled body contour. HD liposuction is a more precise way of remove fat. This makes it ideal for detailed sculpting on areas such as around the abs, biceps, and thighs for example.

This more precise nature is why the process is often referred to as HD liposuction.  It also makes this procedure a better choice for addressing small areas of the body like the neck and upper arms.

HD Liposuction is More Gentle

Vaser HD lipo has the benefit of only targets fat cells. During the procedure less risk of damage should be caused to the underlying blood vessels, connective tissues, or nerves. The result of this is less bruising and swelling after the procedure. This often also leads to a quicker recovery time.

How is Vaser HD Liposuction Performed?

Vaser HD liposuction usually performed under general anaesthesia. usually performed under local or general anaesthesia.  The area to be treated is first filled with a saline solution. This solution also carries the anaesthetic. Then through small incisions, the Vaser ultrasound probes injected. Pulsing sound waves then loosen and break up the fatty tissue. Once this is done, the tissue can be removed with a small suction device.

After this procedure, some numbing fluid remains in the treatment area. The reason for this is to provide continued pain relief or reduction. This fluid will naturally be reabsorbed as part of the healing process.

Drains are required after HD vaser liposuction as that would lower the chance of post operative unevenness and seroma formation. Drains usually get removed on the fifth day depends on the amount of fluids coming out of the drains. Drains are tubes come out of small incision in the lower abdomen and it is connected to external negative pressure reservoir.

Compression garment must be used for 6 weeks after surgery, and we provide a binder as well to be used from day five to support the skin and minimise the unevenness.
Lymphatic drainage will start from next day and every second day in the fist week and twice in the second week and once in the third and fourth week after surgery.
It is recommended to have some pain killers before the lymphatic drainage in the first two weeks to minimize the discomfort during the lymphatic drainage.
